Illustrative type; other products.

Once I had the layout for the t-shirt it only seemed to make sense that everything else matched this with the text being horizontal. I feel a lot of these products look very minimalistic but this was definitely something I was going for because the focus is the typeface itself and having everything on a white background definitely emphasises this.

With the mug design I cheated a bit and mocked it up for the purpose of the photographs using photographic paper and sticking it around the mug. It used the paper because it would still give this gloss effect that the surface of the mug has. Although it looks a bit untidy in some areas I'll definitely be able to edit this out. The layout of the mug is based on the t-shirt design but I felt having the text running from one side all the way round to the other was better because if the text is too small you wouldn't be able to read it and see the detail in the typeface. It doesn't matter too much that you need to rotate the mug to see the full design because the consumer buying it will obviously know what the mug says and it utilizes the white space around it.

The keyring design and postcard design are also based on the t-shirt design and are really simple. Initially I thought they could be a little too simple in terms of the fact they are supposed to be limited edition print. I made the back of both items yellow in order to link them together and just make the design a little more interesting. Although I imagine the keyring to be a popular product it does take away some of the detail within the typeface so this makes me question it a little bit, but then again because everything is for the purpose of photographs you aren't going to be able to see this detail anyway. The postcard could be sent to someone with the back being blank but it could also be simply decorative or a collectors item.

There is also a print as part of this product range and is exactly the same as the postcard design just A4 in size for the purpose of the photographs. This would however be available in a range of sizes from A4 to A0 depending on what the customer would like.
